Hey there,
I wish you a lot of fantastic opportunities in the coming year, that it seems promising to you, and that you carry hope and faith with you at all times. Every year, I set goals for myself, but by the middle of the year, I lose motivation or I have so much going on in my life that I probably can't recall what my goals were. Now that I am in my twenties and gaining experience in this world daily, I feel more driven than ever to persevere and carry out what I had intended. I'm listing my top 5 ideas here (for my own sanity) and I'll keep returning to them. I'm hoping you may relate and perhaps write me back with some thoughts?
People are only at the tip of a massive iceberg that they must face every day. In situations where I have radically different perspectives from other individuals, it can be difficult for me to understand them and their viewpoints. It is normal and entirely acceptable. The most I can do in this situation is to continue to be polite, even when I don't fully understand it.
Consistency is sexy. Be consistent in your work as well in your life. Seek consistent people. What I love is when people are consistent and aren’t afraid to hold themselves accountable when they mess up. Vulnerability is power when done right.
Believe with all of your might. Believe in an elusive force deep inside of you that acts as a catalyst each day, that drives you to wake up with a gentle, constant light in your eyes that no one else can dim but you. The outer world becomes a want once you possess this rather than a need.
Coming from the ever-most impatient person, it is completely OKAY to take some time to reflect, comprehend your own emotions, and think before deciding what is best for you. I have to understand that things will keep moving and everything will happen (it does happen, truly!) at the proper moment. When things don't go my way, I tend to muddle and force it to be right and it does not work.
Finally, my personal favourite. Make a small or significant effort to be kind to yourself now and every day. You lead a life. Make it cheerful. It took me a long time to realise and discover how much self-love can boost your physical and emotional well-being. Give yourself something you've always wanted, treat yourself to your favourite meal, visit the place of your solace and moment of peace, check in with your long-distance best friends, and GET YOURSELF A COFFEE. I love how pleased these tiny things make me feel, and I intend to keep doing so.
A Gentle Reminder Corner
“Maybe right now, your journey isn’t about love. Maybe right now, your journey is about being alone. Maybe this is the season you are being challenged—to learn how to wake up in the middle of the bed, to finally find hope in the vacancy, hope in the quiet, hope in the way you stretch into your life and give yourself permission to take up space within it. Maybe right now, you are being shown—that you can take care of yourself, that you can depend on the person you have become, that you can be your own home no matter what comes your way. Maybe right now, your journey is about redemption. Maybe this is the season you are being challenged to make amends with your heart, to stand up for the vast ways in which it loves, and cares, and believes in the goodness of vulnerability, and expression, and being the person who softens even when the world is not gentle. Maybe right now you are getting a second chance—to trust in it, and to forgive yourself for giving it away to those who could not value it; but most importantly, maybe right now you are being called to protect it, to find your way back into your tenderness, to find your way back into your soul.”
