A personal journal can provide a glimpse into a person's thoughts, feelings, and experiences over a certain period, such as a month. A monthly journal can include the following elements:
Reflections: Write about what you've learned, how you've grown, and what you're grateful for over the past month.
Experiences: Record significant experiences, such as events, trips, or conversations, and describe how they impacted you.
Goals: Reflect on your progress towards your goals and set new ones for the coming month.
Emotions: Write about your emotional state and how it has changed over the course of the month.
Relationships: Write about the relationships you have with family, friends, and coworkers and how they've changed over the past month.
Personal growth: Record any personal growth you've experienced over the past month, such as learning a new skill or overcoming a challenge.
Dreams and aspirations: Reflect on your dreams and aspirations and write about how you plan to make progress towards them.
By reflecting on these elements in a personal journal, you can gain a deeper understanding of your experiences and growth over a specific period and develop a clearer sense of where you want to go in the future.
Here is my Glimpse of January :-
In terms of Reflecting on this month, I began my 4th semester at college which was pretty exciting because I got to see my college mates after a good-long Christmas break secondly nervous because of the tone of studies and work. The Quater of the semester has passed and we are still going well so far. This month was a great progress for me because I decided to sign up for multiple opportunities like joining Substake, a New position at college and outside as well to support my living, Working for Truth & Reconciliation community at my college and most importantly - working at a private school as a student Child & Youth Care Practitioner for children with Mental Health Issues. At the beginning of the month, I wasn’t sure if I would be able to balance everything at once. To be honest, it’s still a question mark but I work on one day at a time basis so it helps me out. I am grateful for the advanced technology which is helping me stay sane and productive throughout the week. I found an amazing app called Listberry which has made my life so much easier. My productivity for a day has increased so much because of this app as it allows me to take notes and add to-do list. It also sends you a reminder about your to-do list to be completed. You should definitely try it.
Moving forward to Experience :-
All of my cute little short or sometimes a long conversation with my kids (10/yo) I work with are the best. I love to hear what is cooking in their little minds and create fun pieces of stuff with them. I do not realise at the moment when I am actually with them but it does hit me when I am travelling my way back home from work. These conversations are so impactful on me because sometimes I get to learn from them and I love listening to people’s experiences in life and being there for them in form of light during the darkness.
Goals :- For my goals for the coming months is to ace the interviews and secure my fall placement where |I wish to work. [ More in future newsletters :) ]
The emotional state has been mixed. I cannot find one particular emotion but it is a bunch of happy, excited, overwhelmed and anxious. Good thing I started doing this month whenever I feel disturbed or not-so-happy, I start thinking about my accomplishments, things I should be grateful about myself and my self-worth. I start thinking about my Substake because this is the most precious and personal thing that I have decided after waiting for 2 years. I feel happy and motivated when I start brainstorming about my next newsletter.
Further, in terms of Relationship, sometimes it gets hard for me to balance work and life. It gets difficult because of my ongoing daily tasks and schedule. By day- I am a college student and by night - I am a writer on Substake and working outside. I need to learn how to find balance between both. Also, I just read this amazing piece of writing by
which says'“Show concern for the people around you, and develop a better balance in your work and personal life. Create a strategy that works for you, and SLOW DOWN to get rid of your stress so that you can find more joy in the job you love and the people you live with.”
I was greatly inspired by this piece of writing and it was a sense of reminder for me to balance both work and family. It is important to build healthy relationships and make time for people you value.
In terms of my personal growth, I would say I have become a more organized person than I was before. I keep my personal space clean so that when I have to work, it just keeps me mentally sane and more focused. I like my to-do lists, my room, my workspace and my closet (lol) clean because it just prepares me for the coming days and since I am always on the go at different places.
Lastly about my dreams and aspirations. Well, I do have some big dreams and huge aspirations but I also think that the way to success is only by working hard for it. Believing in myself and staying consistent with whatever I plan for the future.
I would love to hear about how your month went. Write back to me with your thoughts?
