Hey you all!
Shia here,
It’s January 9th which means a break is officially over and it’s time to get started with work, school and life. It’s time to collect our Christmas tree and chunk it into the curb. It’s time to return back to the daily grind after a break (hopefully) filled with cocktails, leftovers, late-night shenanigans and family time. Guess who is still in holiday mode and hasn't yet gained the motivation for 2023? However, at least I am not alone. I guess it’s completely okay to not feel things differently as we dive into 2023 because the year has changed but not us and our daily grind remains the same. We will continue working at the same place (unless you start something new) or attending the same school, but with a more challenging semester and a heavier workload.
The other morning when I checked my phone after waking up, it was flooded with notifications from my school, emails from instructors, and work emails, including one from my manager reminding me that it is return to office day and that we have tones of things to get this in January. While my school has been emailing five-page PDFs with assignments, due dates, and quizzes I realised that this time of the month has started to feel more overwhelming than school or work itself. Just as I was starting to wonder if my feelings are normal or if I'm the only one experiencing them, I received a not-so-happy message from my classmate who was also in the same boat as me.
As much as I am Positive and hopeful for this new year, I had to push myself to get started. Beginnings are always scary and endings are sad But everything in between is worth it. I decided to take it slow and gave myself an extra day off to just simply sit back, breadth and analyse the tasks. I took a very long hot shower, had my coffee, and cleaned my room, well you can see the list below to do when you want to recharge and channel your energy. It works for me so might as well work for you too.
I almost did every single thing mentioned above in the list and it makes me feel good. It helps me to not freak out when you have a crazy long day or month ahead. It's important to take care of yourself and make sure you are feeling mentally and physically prepared to tackle the challenges and opportunities that a new month brings. This might involve setting goals, making a plan, or just taking some time to relax and recharge. On that note, don’t forget to take a nap and give yourself an extra reward :)
“47 Ways to Practice Micro-Healing in your Everyday Life Do something that your future self will thank you for, even if it is small. Appreciate something you have today that your past self would be impressed by, even if it feels normal now. Start saying “thank you” for what you want as though it has already happened. Write it down, say it out loud. Even once is enough. Learn the power of momentum. Start with small tasks in the day and let it build.”
